The Bishan Park recovery plan by Herbert Dreiseitl won the award for World Landscape of the Year at the 2012 World Architecture Festival. Dreiseitl’s stunning holistic design restored the Kallang River in Singapore and transformed the surrounding area into a floodplain, habitat for biodiversity and recreational hub. Introducing the fairly new concept of community participation was important in engaging citizens to protect Singapore’s limited and precious freshwater asset.
